More Stuff....

Miserable

I just saw that there's going to be a new Les Miserables movie.

It's the musical version, on film.

It has some Australian stuff in it.

The two main stars are Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe.

Sacha Baron Cohen is in it. He's not Australian. But he's married to an Australian.

The director of the film is Tom Hooper. He's the one who directed The King's Speech, which had a lot of Aussie connections.

Tom Hooper himself is part Australian. I always forgot why and how. Lord Wiki just reminded me.  His mother is an Aussie.

I'm going to watch the trailer now.

I'm not sure how I feel about the trailer. I'm not sure I would have chosen that particular song.    Maybe they did it because of the whole Susan Boyle event. It's probably the song that's most familiar to the masses. Even people who don't know Les Miserables probably know that particular song.

I might go see the movie, mainly because two of my past girl crushes are in the film—Amanda Seyfried and Helena Bonham Carter.

I personally think the most important singing role in the film is Eponine. She's being played by Samantha Barks. I've never heard of her.

Lord Wiki says she's done theater and was in a reality TV show about theater.

We'll see how she does with Eponine.

She'll probably do well. Hopefully.

Helena Bonham Carter is playing Madame Thenardier. I think she's the one who sings "Master of the House"? I like that song.

Amanda Seyfried is playing Cosette.

The Cosette on the Broadway CD, I used to have, was played by Judy Kuhn. Kuhn was the voice of Pocahontas in the Disney movie.

I like little pieces of trivia like that.

  3. Until SuBo I think 'On My Own' was the most well known song from Les Mis.. but then 'I dreamed a dream' went nuts.. when I was in London all the posters for Les Mis said 'Dream the Dream' etc. I personally don't care for this particular version of it, but I am very excited to see this movie. Hugh Jackman is one of my two great celebrity loves and we know he can sing and act ( and dance, not that he'll need to). Samantha Barks did a fantastic job in the 25th Anniversary concert, so I think she'll make a fine Eponine. I absolutely love Les Mis so it can't come quick enough for me!

  4. Red Nomad Oz: I hope the degree of the invasion continues to increase!

HappyOrganist: I wonder the same thing. I don't think there's been a movie of the musical yet. But there was a movie based on the book...at least one. Have there been others? I'm thinking of the one with Liam Neeson.

Kate Sparkles: Oh yeah! You should probably love the movie...since you're a Hugh Jackman fan.

What's your favorite Les Miserables song?
