TV Shows and Movies I Watched in 2022

Here's a list of what I watched in 2022...well in terms of movies and scripted TV shows.  I'm not including all the YouTube and Instagram videos...or the many videos my family shares via text. I also don't count the shows that I get a glimpse of when I go into the kitchen and Tim is watching something.  Although if I sit down to watch; then I count it.

Shows and movies are divided by geography—settling location not necessarily the filming location. I put some shows in multiple places if applicable.

Blue font means I especially loved the show or movie.  Though lack of blue doesn't mean a lack of love...at the time. Sometimes I will love a show when I see it but then later my enthusiasm fades. I'm going to try, though, to remember my initial love for a show.

Red font means I didn't like it.

Orange font is for shows that I watched a little bit of when I had control of the remote control during MY 50th Birthday Disney trip.  I was so excited to have control of the TV and do the old fashioned thing of flipping through channels.  I decided if I sat down to watch at least 5-10 minutes of something (before flipping to the next thing), I was going to count it.

There are certain shows in which I sort of lie about location because of spoiler issues. I'm not going to specify which shows, because that in itself would be a spoiler.  It's kind of like when people tell you there's a twist at the end of the movie and just knowing there is a twist ends up being a sort of spoiler.

Also....I started writing this a few weeks before posting.  It gets a bit confusing, because things are a bit out of order.  Most of the stuff I watched in the past throughout the year.  But other shows, I watched in the midst of working on the post.  Because this post is ordered by geography rather than time-of-watching, with the more recent watchings, there's a Doctor-River Song sort of vibe.

For anyone interested: Here's my 2017, 2020, and 2021 list.

CANADA

Turning Red

The Handmaid's Tale

Trevor Noah-I Wish You Would

COLUMBIA

Encanto

EGYPT

Moon Knight

GREECE

Glass Oven: A Knives out Mystery

IRELAND

Belfast-Didn't remember to add this until January 5.  I had forgotten to add it to my Google Docs where I write down everything I watch.  I can't remember how I thought of it.  But then I went through texts to find the conversation with my parents inviting me over to watch.  Hopefully, I didn't miss any other movies or TV shows

ITALY

The White Lotus-What we're currently watching.  It will probably be our 2022-2023 bridge show.

JAPAN

Mushishi-I was bored.

KOREA

Train to Busan-Koreans are very good at horror.

Dr. Brain

Miss Granny

All of Us Are Dead-I loved this and was disappointed that we didn't see any trick or treaters dressed as the students.

The Call-Very scary. I realized while watching that it was a scary version of The Lake House. And then with some Googling, I learned the Lake House is actually a remake of a Korean movie.

Seoul Station

Extraordinary Attorney Woo

SOUTH AFRICA

Chappie-I actually more-listened to this than watched.  I used the Netflix narration.  I enjoyed the experience.

UNITED KINGDOM

Coronation Street

Ted Lasso-This is one of those shows where I also even liked the odd low-rated-on-IMDb episode.

Afterlife-I like this show.  BUT it could have done without the transphobic joke. I also found it annoying that the deceased wife was shown as being so overly perfect.

Green Wing-It took quite awhile for this to grow on me.  But by the last episode of season one, I was okay with it.

Cold Feet-The more seasons I watch of this, the more emotionally attached I get.

Moon Knight-I think this was the first show we watched on our new big screen in the theater/media room.

Doctor Who-Two years ago, I was very much into Jodie Whitaker as the doctor...like crush level.  Now as I plan to get back to the show I feel nothing.  I'm just eager for the 14th Doctor.  Though by the time I reach the end of the season, I'll probably be back in love with the 13th Doctor and heartbroken that she's leaving.  BUT...I'm excited for Millie Gibson as a companion. I had sat on our backyard bench crying with relief when I realized I misunderstood spoilers and that Kelly Neelan was not going to fall gruesomely to her death; she was just moving away from the street. Then to find out, the Tardis was picking her up? What wonderful news.  I'm eager to see her adventures with the Doctor.  I'm also hopeful that one day Kelly Neelan will return to Coronation Street.

The Sandman - I love it but it took me several episodes to get to that point.

I was confused and bothered by the show not seeming to be in the same universe as Lucifer. I wish they were more connected.  Or that we, at least, had answers to explain away the differences.  Why are Cain and Abel together in dream realm in The Sandman but in Lucifer Cain has supposedly been walking the earth for many many years?  Why does Lucifer have a human face in hell in The Sandman? Why wouldn't he be using his demonic face?

Thinking...From what I know, Lucifer is a spin-off of The Sandman.  And knowing that different realms have different timelines, maybe in The Sandman, Cain and Able are in a before-period.  And God punishing Cain comes after their time in the dreaming realms?  Or whatever realm they're in. I'm not 100% sure it's the dreaming realm.

I personally would have preferred that they use the same cast, director, writers, mood as Lucifer.  I mean the casts would be different, because the central characters are different.  But I would have preferred the same Lucifer, the same Cain, the same Mazikeen, etc.  (Guest appearance kind of things  Or at least have Gwendolyn Christie-Lucifer mention or show that she/he has shift-shaping abilities.

Anyway....Although I never disliked the show, my like turned to love with the Rose Walker storyline.

 UNITED STATES

Nine Perfect Strangers

The Power of the Dog-We saw this with my parents.  My parents and I rarely agree on anything. But we were united in thinking this movie was quite awful. Well, I wouldn't say it was awful.  I think, as a piece of art, it's great.  But I found it very unenjoyable.

American Horror Story-I'm not sure which seasons we watched this year.  Maybe "Roanoke" and "Double Feature"?  I think most of my strong-liking comes from the settings.

Criminal Minds

Cobra Kai-We watched two seasons this year

Empire-I watched one season of this in the beginning of the year and another towards the end of the year.

What We Do in the Shadows-I still love this show, but I loved the latest season a little bit less than the other seasons.

Ozark-I can't believe the priest that helped the family in Chicago and all those foster kids on that Island turned out to be such a violent shithead.

Schitt's Creek-LOVED this show and was super into it.  And then suddenly I wasn't.  It's nothing about the show itself.  I think it's personal issues really.  I was going to tie my fading love to trauma.  But you know, I think what really happened is I got really into using headphones and am almost constantly listening to TV shows, audiobooks, podcasts.  Prior to that, while I did kitchen chores, I had this whole thing of re-watching Schitt's Creek.  But then I stopped.  And well, actually...part of that was because of climate-trauma and moving.  But mostly...I think it was the headphones. In my quest to re-watch...I left off at the second to last episode.  I think it's kind of this unfinished business for me. I feel uneasy about the whole thing.

Scandal-This show keeps getting better and better.  The more outrageous it gets, the more I like it.

Orange is the New Black-Watched the first season.  Hope Random.org picks more seasons for me...someday.

Succession-One of my ChatGPT adventures was asking the AI to write a pitch for a crossover TV show between this one and Empire.

 Upload

West Side Story-I tried watching this with Tim, thinking I was being supportive.  Because the original is one of his favorite movies.  I didn't like it...and I don't think he was as into watching the remake as I expected.

The Last Man on Earth-This is such a fun show.

Greenleaf

Stranger Things-I greatly enjoyed this but then all the Holocaust stuff kind of put a damper on things.  Still. It's a fun show.

Outer Range-We watched the whole season.  By the end, I had sort of warmed to it.  But looking back, I feel cold towards it.

Brooklyn 99

Flight Attendant

The Shining Girls

Shameless-I was less into the 2nd season than the 1st.  But I still liked it.

Community

The Handmaid's Tale-Well...it sort of (partly) takes place in the United States.  Location-wise.

Complete Unknown-I had to Google this movie to remind myself what it was. I now can remember it. BUT I have no idea of whether I liked it, disliked it or loved it.  I should check to see if I rated it on IMDb.  That might help.

Severance- This show is SO SO SO good.

Nope-This was one of those things where I didn't like something UNTIL talking to other people and reading about it...and thinking about it.  My initial feeling was that I liked it much less than Get Out and Us.  But later...well, I still prefer Us and maybe Get Out,  But now, I also like Nope.

Heredity-Super creepy.  I didn't like the message the movie (intentionally/unintentionally) sends about mental health and people with neurological differences. Well, I want to say more but it would be total spoilers.  I think what I'll do is write something at the way bottom of this post...  I didn't like the movie, because I found it offensive.  But I did like the movie, because it was so creepy. Although the creepiness scared me which I find unpleasant.  At the same time, the fact that it scared me impressed me.

Station Eleven-This miniseries is so beautiful.  Although not exactly in its entirety. Some of the episodes were amazing. Others were mediocre.  I think Tim and I both preferred the flashback episodes.  It's a great story about stories, and it replies to the assholes who think writers, artists, actors, filmmakers, musicians are not doing important work or were a waste of space during the pandemic.

I became obsessed with one of the trailers—watching it repeatedly and memorizing the lines.  I like to recite it sometimes.  ALSO...the miniseries is part of what inspired me to work on turning bits of my blog and my novel into a book-book instead of just an online thing.

The whole miniseries revolves around a graphic novel written by a woman who makes only a few copies before a pandemic kills most of the population.  It made me think of how my writing is very unpopular now.  But there's a chance it could be super popular during the apocalypse when there's less reading material out there.  Or it might not be popular, but it might be special to one or two survivors.  And that would be nice.  I mean...so sad about the apocalypse.  Of course!

The Bear-I probably would have liked this more if I didn't watch it while addicted to the color-water sorting game.  My heart and mine were more into the game. That being said...I still liked the show.

Chasing Life

The Lost City

Invasion of the Body Snatchers-I'm pretty sure this was the first time I watched the entire movie.  I think we watched bits and pieces during my childhood. It was scarier than I expected. It makes me want to watch more horror movies of the 1960's, 1970's, and early 1980's.

Poltergeist-Wrote a whole post about this one.

Bosch-It's nice to see a universe where Sophia survives and grows up...well reaches her teen years, at least.

Modern Family-The last two seasons.  Our family enthusiastically watched the first three or four seasons; then the interest faded.  A few years ago, Tim and I got back into it and watched some of it...kind of jumped into where they were rather than going back to catch up with what we had missed.  We kind of forgot about it (or really it got buried underneath everyone else in our to-watch agenda.  Then a few months ago, Tim started watching the whole series from the beginning. I asked if he'd mind stopping at season 10, because that's where we left off.  So we watched 10 and 11 together...actually a few episodes at the end of episode 9 as well.

Reboot

Enchanted

Just Go With It

The Conners-This was comforting in that I'm-not-the-only-one-aging kind of way.

Family Guy

Charmed

Young Sheldon

Legends

The Sandman

Wednesday - I like it.  But I'm tired of seeing the dance everywhere.  In some ways, I like social media trends. It's cool seeing humanity come together to inspire and copy each other.  On the other hand, I'm realizing I much prefer original content.  I mean nothing is 100% original.  But I think I prefer the stuff that's vaguely inspired rather than seeing the same thing (with tiny variations) over and over.

Lucifer-Just got back to watching this...I'm on season 4.  I usually love it, but it's probably going to take me a couple of episodes to get back into it.

VARIOUS

Don't Look Up-Sometimes comedies have very sad moments.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness-This is one of those movies where I feel I should like it more, because of the subject matter.  But I don't. I didn't like Wanda turning evil.  I have a huge soft spot for bad characters turning good and find the opposite depressing.  I mean I know she also did bad things in WandaVision.  But I think all that was more understandable...and also fun.

1899

Everything Everywhere All At Once-I liked this much more than Doctor Strange.

NOT EARTH

Obi-Wan Kenobi For the stronger Star Wars fans like Tim and Jack...going on Rise of the Resistance was like, Oh, it's just like the movie!  For me, I watch this TV show and think Cool! I feel like I'm on the ride I love so much!  I'm really NOT into the Star Wars franchise...compared to Tim, Jack, and other people. At least when it comes to movies and shows.  Yet I've decided my favorite land of all the Disney parks is Galaxy's Edge.

Mandalorian-I wanted to like this and expected to like this but was kind of bored.  I think we watched only one or two episodes. We would have probably watched more, so I could give it more of a chance.  But there were too many other shows we wanted to watch.  Just for the record: Tim had already watched it on his own and liked it. (I don't want inadvertently smear his Star Wars fan reputation)

Rogue One-This one we watched recently.  I started to have certain questions about the Star Wars universe.  If this is a whole galaxy, why is there a Star Wars look?  Why does the design and landscape of so many different planets look similar?  Tim tried to explain it away with the imperialism, because I think he thought I was referring to the Vader stuff.  But no...I was referring more to the rebel and town/village sort of places.  It all very much looks like Galaxy's Edge.  However, then we saw the palm tree area...which I appreciated.

ALSO...during the movie I started to think they should make a PRE-PRE prequel about one of the planets before they all became intergalactic. I think it would be cool to have a  (first) UFO/alien encounter movie in the Star Wars Universe. Does anyone know which planet initiated contact?  Or were there multiple planets having success simultaneously?  Googling....

And now giving up.  It looks like there is a very elaborate and long history...thousands of years.  I can't easily find anything pre-republic.

Added weeks later: I just asked ChatGPT, and it says the planet Coruscant was the first to travel through the galaxy.  Cool.  Unless they're wrong.

Andor-Watching this now (at time of writing...this post).  I've now thought of justification for why there's a Star Wars look so prevalent throughout the entire galaxy.  It's just like how, with the Internet, on Earth we're probably starting to see and will continue to see more similarities between different countries whether it be in conspiracy theories, architecture, language, art, popular culture, etc.

I didn't much like Andor except for the storyline involving Andy Serkis. That I loved. I told Tim that Disney should make an attraction based on these scenes. Disney guests can pay to have the chance to build equipment for the Imagineers. It would also provide more career placements for cast members who tend to be snarky/grumpy rather than cheerful and friendly.

Lightyear- But maybe they were sometimes on Earth?  I forget.

The Midnight Club-Not bad, but I liked it less than the Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and Midnight Mass.  It was fun seeing Heather Langenkamp.

MYSTICAL PLACE

Schmigadoon-We watched only one episode.  I love musicals.  But I didn't like the songs. And since the songs were a big part of the show, I let Tim know I wasn't interested in continuing with it.  I don't think he was either.  Sometimes, one of us will like a show the other wants to quit; then we end up watching it alone.  OR, in my case, I put it in my long too-watch list and hope that Random.org comes through for me.

Some shows that Tim has dropped out of that I'm waiting for Random.org to pick for me: Evil, The Walking Dead, and Doctor Who.  Good news is...my last Random.org pick was for Doctor Who.  I'm excited for that.

Upload

Lost City-An island somewhere.  I was just trying to find out where it was supposed to take place and Google informed me it is similar to Romancing the Stone.  I vaguely remember liking that movie, but I guess I didn't remember the movie itself enough to recognize the similarities.

Westworld-I liked season four better than season three but much less than season one and two.  I was just thinking.  It's not just the loss of the main setting that bothered me. It's more Aaron Paul.  And I think Aaron Paul is wonderful.  I love him as Todd in BoJack Horseman.  I also loved him in The Path.  But in Westworld, he almost feels like a cousin Oliver.

I think it would have been fine to add Paul to the cast. But they didn't just do that.  They made him the central character.  My heart wasn't with him.  It was almost like the creators were thinking...we can't have women robots or a Black man robot as our  main protagonist. We need a white man.

Maleficent

Read my novel: The Dead are Online

My issue with Heredity: The daughter in the movie acts...strange, different.  She seemed kind of autistic. As an autistic person myself, I had that secret wish that in the end, it would turn out that despite her weirdness, creepiness...it would turn out she was a good person.  Instead...if you dig deep and read what the director intended, the daughter was possessed by a demon all along.  Also, with the title and other scenes, the movie seemed to imply that the whole family was believed to have mental health challenges and/or neurological differences.  Instead, it turns out...they were just involved with demonic stuff.  The movie could provide a pretty big contribution to negative mental health stigmas.

The Family Market of What to Watch and Read

My family got together for a birthday dinner last night.

Like usual, there was discussion of what we're reading and watching. There always seems to be a push to get other people to watch and read what we're reading.

I really think there's some kind of human drive to get people to have the same favorite shows, movies, books, songs, etc. that we do.

Maybe it's partly about power and influence. There's satisfaction of someone liking something, and we're able to think or say, I'm the one who introduced them to that.

I think it's also about the desire to have someone with whom we can discuss the book, movie, show.

Anyway....

Last night, there was a lot of that happening.

It felt almost like some kind of market.

My younger sister was selling Fleabag. I've heard of that show, and I think I might actually have it on my massively long to-watch list.

She mentioned the show was British...and it was almost like a warning/disclaimer.

Uh...hello?

In the past, I've done major marketing of Coronation Street to my sister. I mean I wrote long rambling texts about it, pushing her to watch it.

I mentioned it again last night in response to her saying the British thing.  She didn't seem to have any memory of me mentioning it in the past. That was kind of frustrating.

My mom started a book conversation with me.

She was selling a book called Queen Bee by Dorothea Benton Frank.

I tried to sell A Marriage Story by Tayari Jones. My mom didn't seem too keen. But she did like my suggestion of Ghosted by Rosie Walsh.  She told me it was going to be next on her list. That made me feel kind of bad, because though I added Queen Bee to my list, I use Random.org to pick from the list instead of going in order. I don't know when I'll get to it...or if I'll ever get to it.

As for past successes in buying and selling.

Tim, Jack, and I had great success selling Modern Family to my entire family. I think we all became fans for a year or two.

In terms of buying, the best success was probably a few years ago when my mom suggested we watch Ugly Betty. We ended up loving the show.

Now another thing I'm wondering. What's more aggravating?  Is it someone not taking our suggestions and loving what we love?  OR is it when someone ends up loving a show or book and completely forgets that we had suggested it.

Once my sister asked for TV show suggestions. I enthusiastically offered a handful. My parents suggested some as well. My sister took their suggestion instead of mine.  I was a bit disappointed. Maybe a bit wounded.

Then sometime later, she started selling the TV show Limitless to the family. Hello?!!!!  That show was one of the ones I had suggested that day! She had no memory of that.

No. Sorry. You don't take what I've sold to you and try to sell it back to me. With TV show, book, and movie suggestions you pay it forward...NOT backwards.

Blackmail, Deprivation, Online Trickery, and Pig People

1. Dreamed that I am going to be performing a skit with Jay Pritchett (From Modern Family) and Sheila Canning (From Neighbours)

Jay has taken it upon himself to be the boss of the project. I don't like his ideas, which include having us pretend to be in different cities and representing this by wearing clothing with the city's name on it.

I start to remember how I used to write screenplays, and I'm mad at myself for not putting myself in charge of the project.

There's a scene that deals with pizza. Sheila starts ad-libbing a lot. I really like her lines, and I'm impressed with that she's doing.

2. Dreamed about a man having a pee accident. I think it might have been Kip Gamblin.  Or maybe it was Brad Willis.

3. Wanted to say that I didn't know Wes Craven had died when I started writing about the horror stuff last night.

I found out after I posted.

Did I write about horror because some little part of me sensed that there was big horror genre news that day?

Probably not.

I was probably thinking about horror, because Tim and I have been watching a horror TV show. Also, I had read an editorial about The Walking Dead yesterday.

4. Started watching an episode of Neighbours.

I'm intrigued, because on the previously-on-Neighbours segment, they showed something that happened months ago. It was when people on Ramsey street wrote their secrets in envelopes and handed them to Sonya (Eve Morey).  The segment always connects to what's going to happen on that day's episode; so I'm curious to know how that's going to play out.

5. Saw that Sonya keeps the secrets in a purple bag.

Their young houseguest Jimmy (Darcy Tadich) finds the bag and wants to know what's in it.

6. Felt that Neighbours was promoting the message that children shouldn't be deprived of sugar.

Amy (Zoe Cramond) doesn't let her son Jimmy eat sugar. She's very strict.

Now Jimmy is blackmailing the residents of Ramsey Street in order to get candy and baked goods. The kid has gone evil.

I'm not sure how I feel about it.

We're not anti-sugar or junk food in our house. We probably fail too much in the other direction, though. We allow too much crap to go into our bodies.

On one hand, I feel depriving children of things will make them want it more. But then with that argument, there's the question, should anything go?

What if our child wants to drink a beer? Should we not deprive them of it?

7. Realized what I have swimming in my mind.

It's that some parents feel very strongly about things. Some parents are very much against artificial sweeteners. Some are against sugar. Some are against television. There are families that follow a strict religious or ethical diet. Is it right for parents to impose these life choices on their child? Is it going to make their child want the forbidden thing more? Is the apparent message on Neighbours correct? Will depriving a child of something turn them into blackmailing monsters?

Do parents have a right to push their beliefs on a child? Does society have a right to question and try to change parents who do these things?

8. Started to watch another episode of Neighbours.

9. Wondered what's up with Imogen's (Ariel Kaplan) dress?

Is she going for the pilgrim look?

10. Thought that Amber (Jenna Rosenow) had made a friend online on a message board for mothers, but it looks like it might be Josh (Harley Bonner) in disguise.

Or am I misinterpreting what I saw?

What happened is Amber found out that Josh was selling illegal substances, and worse, lying to her. So she told him to back off. Then she went online to her Mum's group to complain about how she feels alone.

11. Thought about how this is the third time I've seen a young Ramsey Street resident get tricked by someone on the Internet. Paige (Olympia Valance) got tricked into thinking she was talking to a hot guy. Bailey (Calen MacKenzie) was tricked into losing most of his family's money. Now Amber might be venting about her baby's father...to the baby's father.

12. Started watching another episode of Neighbours.

13. Thought that Amy is acting incredibly stupid.

She knows her son has been blackmailing people. She found out that he was doing it to Susan (Jackie Woodburne) and Karl (Alan Fletcher).

Later, she witnesses Sheila (Colette Mann) giving Jimmy everything his heart desires even when Amy speaks out against it. Then when Sonya and Toadie (Ryan Moloney) suggest that Jimmy is blackmailing Sheila, Amy refuses to believe it.

Oh, and did I mention that they told Amy that Sheila told them that Jimmy knows her secret?

14. Disagreed with Kyle's mindset when he argued that Jimmy is a nine-year-old kid—meaning he can't be too much of a blackmailing menace.

Children can be quite evil.

They can be malicious and conniving.

They can cause a lot of emotional torment.

That's not to say I think it's okay for children to be verbally or physically attacked by an adult. The adult needs to try to have more self-control and decency than the child.  I think, though, that we need to try to have understanding and sympathy for the adult who's blackmailed and/or bullied by the child. We shouldn't dismiss the issue by pointing out the child's age.

I think we can talk about the child's age in some circumstances—maybe in an attempt to get the adult to understand that the child needs time to mature.

I think though that there's a difference between the message of He's nine, and desperate to get what he wants. He'll hopefully gain some kindness as he gets older; and the message of He's nine! How can a nine-year-old hurt an adult?

15. Thought that Paige should go to the United States with Amber instead of Josh.

Paige seems obsessed with America.

It seems like she wears an American-themed T-shirt almost every day.

16. Went to the Triple J 2014 list.

Today I'm going to listen to the 36th song, which is "Won't Let You Down" by the Hilltop Hoods.

It features some guy named Maverick Sabre.

17. Learned from Lord Wiki that Maverick Sabre is an Irish guy.

18. Started to watch the video for "Won't Let You Down"

19. There's a pig person, like in Doctor Who.

20. Felt like pig-headed people are from something else besides Doctor Who.

21. Wondered if I'm thinking of that Twilight Zone episode.

22. Wondered. If a human had a pig head instead of a human head, would they taste like pork?  Or would their body taste like a human?

23. Saw a girl making flirty eyes with one of the pig-human hybrids. If she ends up having sex with him, would that be bestiality? Even if his genitals are humanish?

24. Wondered. What's the symbolism of the pig-heads? Or is there no symbolism?  Did they just add pig-heads, because they feared otherwise people might be bored by the video?

25. Saw comment on video that explained things to me. Dasfx says, If you listen to the lyrics they are talking about how they've been too pigheaded (obstinate and stupid) to realize or respect what they have in life. They've taken their woman for granted. The video is a representation of Suffa falling into the wrong crowd.

Yes! That makes sense, and it does match the lyrics.

I didn't think of the whole pigheaded=stubborn and stupid thing.  I wish I did. Then I'd feel more clever.

26. Started to watch a Kate Kendall backstage Neighbours video.

27. Saw the cast eating in the Green Room. It's kind of odd, because they're all at their own little desk/seating areas. It looks like they're all eating alone.

They're not really.

They're all in the same room. And I guess they can chat. But it kind of looks like they're alone.

Maybe I'm used to people eating at a table together. Or like we sometimes do—sit on the couch together and eat while watching television.

28. Amused, because Tim Phillips is supposed to enter the scene with Ariel Kaplan and Jenna Rosenow fighting. He has trouble getting the pool gate open.  I wonder if they kept that in the scene. I don't remember. But they probably should have. It's kind of realistic. Gates can be a challenge to open sometimes.

29. Saw that there's another Australian Kate Kendall.

She's a yoga teacher in Sydney.

30. Saw that there's another Australian celebrity Kate Kendall. Though she lives in San Francisco now.

She's the CEO of a company called Cloud Peeps.

She's not super famous, but she does have 51 thousand followers on Twitter. That's quite a lot. And, she's not one of those people who had to go on a follow-spree in order to get such a huge amount of followers.

30. Learned from Lord Wiki, and a YouTube commenter, that Kendall was one of the stars of the TV show Stingers.

31. Went over to Kate Kendall's Instagram—the actress one.

32. Saw that the latest post is a photo of an article about Neighbours.

There's an upcoming episode that focuses on one storyline only—the one with Terese (Rebekah Elmaloglou), Brad, and Lauren.

Or maybe it's aired already.

I saw some maybe-spoilers on the Neighbours YouTube channel about Brad becoming bad.  I haven't watched the actual video, but I'm wondering what it's all about.

I guess I shall find out someday soon....

33. Wondered who Brad ends up with—Terese or Lauren.

I hope it's Lauren.

I want something better for Terese.

Lauren and Brad can have each other. They both annoy me these days.

Breaking the Seal, Biters, Excusing Criminal Behavior, and Daniel's Family

1. Dreamed that, I watch a commercial that uses footage from a real party that Nicole Kidman attended. She's dancing to a song that mentions the color of a dress. She's not wearing that color.  I wonder, to myself, about the legality of using footage from a real party.

Then, I'm in the backseat of a car. I think about how I've already watched many Australian videos today, but I haven't even started a blog post. I decide I can write exactly that—that I've watched Australia-related videos but haven't written anything yet. I figure once I do that, the seal will be broken, and I'll write a lot of stuff.

Next thing I know, there's a man pointing a gun at me from the outside of a car. I don't think much of it. It seems I think it's a video I'm watching. It takes me a few moments to realize it's really happening.

The man with the gun has me stand outside. He has another hostage. I kind of stand alone— away from the the gunman and the other hostage.

I'm not overly worried about any of it. I decide to sing.  I go with "Somewhere over the Rainbow". I use a soprano voice, and it's not very good.

Then I see the gunman being friendly towards the hostage.  He walks over to me. I can't tell if he's holding the gun out towards me as a sign of surrender, or he's pointing the gun at me, planning to shoot. I reach out to take the gun from him. There's no struggle.

2. Thought that the break-a-seal thing came about because, before falling back asleep, I was thinking about nighttime urination. My brother-in-law has talked to me about the breaking the seal concept.  I didn't think of that when awake, but I guess it crept into my dream.

Maybe I should be disturbed that my brain connected urination and my blog.

Is my blog like pee to me?

3. Thought that the gunman in my dream might have been inspired by yesterday's shooting. But who knows. It could have been inspired by the many other shootings that have happened in the past few years.

I'm surprised I don't dream of guns more often.

4. Started to watch an episode of Neighbours.

From the previously-on-Neighbours segment, it looks like Nell's (Scarlett Anderson) biting is going to be a big storyline for today. I kind of imagined it concluded yesterday.

I guess maybe we're going to see Toadie (Ryan Moloney) and Sonya (Eve Morey) struggling with discipline issues.

5. Remembered that Modern Family had a storyline about young children biting.

I don't have a young child right now, so biting children seems somewhat trivial and comedic. But when you're a parent going through the whole thing, it can feel like a huge deal.

6. Imagined it's also a bit deal if you or your children are victims of the biting child.

I'm glad that none of my young nephews have started biting...yet.

I hope I didn't jinx us by saying that.

7. Thought that when you're a parent of a toddler or preschooler who is biting, kicking, hitting, etc; it can be very stressful.  But I think when we're past that stage and see it happening to other parents, it can sometimes seem like a small issue. It seems normal and kind of funny.

That being said, I don't know what's normal and not normal. I think a short-term biting habit is normal and so is hitting here and there. I'm not sure about young children who are chronically aggressive. Do they grow out of it?  Do they continue to be violent?

Should a parent be worried if their preschooler is often hitting his classmates?

8. Realized that the mindset of worrying and not worrying can apply to any issue. I think certain things seem like HUGE deals when you have a young child. Then when the children are older, it seems funny that we worried so much. Things like— will the child breastfeed forever? Will she ever be able to fall asleep on her own? Will she ever get out of diapers?  Is she always going to scream at the grocery store? Is she ever going to get out of the habit of stripping off her clothes in public?

Unless a child has a major developmental disorder, they usually overcome all the things that had us worrying when they were young.

Well, I guess that's another thing to worry about—whether or not our children have a developmental disorder.  It seems funny, when your child is five and running around the house that you once worried he'd never walk. It's not so funny when he's sixteen months, and you're still waiting for those first steps.

9. Decided I should stop blabbing, and get on with the show.

10. Saw that Sonya and Toadie are now having sleep problems with Nell. She's crying in her room instead of sleeping. They don't know what to do. Should they go to her and give her comfort? Will that send the wrong message? Does she need comfort from her parents?  Is she crying because her schedule's out of whack? Or if she crying because they've taught her that if she cries she can get whatever she wants?

It all seems huge when our children are young...well, maybe not for those calm happy parents who take everything in stride.  I'm curious. Are there many out there?

I definitely wasn't one of them.

It felt to me, from what I read in parenting books, that if I gave Jack too much comfort, it would screw him up for life. Or if I let him cry too long, that would screw him up for life.  There were two very conflicting viewpoints; both of them grabbing at me. They both seemed to be saying that if I didn't follow their directions, my child would be emotionally damaged and/or a huge failure in life.

11. Had a hard time sympathizing with Josh (Harley Bonner) feeling that his criminal behavior is justified.

He's selling illegal substances to help pay for surgery for his embryo that's not guaranteed to work. Nor do they know for sure that the baby wouldn't be okay without the surgery.

I can understand someone resorting to legal behavior to save a child they have gotten to know and love.  It's harder for me to understand doing it for an embryo.

Then again, people can become very attached to their unborn child.

I was very attached to Jack.

The thing is, though, there are a huge amount of parents who have born or unborn children in life threatening situations. I think most of them deal with the problem without resorting to illegal activities.  Does this mean they love their children less?  Do the ones who commit crimes love their children more?

Is Imogen (Ariel Kaplan) a bad aunt for trying to prevent her brother from making money illegally?

12. Felt morally confused.

13. Realized that I probably can usually feel sympathy for people who resort to crime out of financial desperation.

I think maybe the storyline bothers me, because it seems out of character for Josh. He was so regretful about injuring Chris (James Mason). He acted very remorseful and showed a lot of maturity and responsibility.  Then he ends up selling an illegal substance that sends Kyle (Chris Milligan) to the hospital. From his past behavior, I think someone like Josh would feel horrible. He'd feel guilty and, at the very least, cut all ties with the supplement company.  Instead his mind is on continuing to make money, and not getting caught.

Has being a father changed Josh that much—has it made him throw away all his morals? Or is it more about the chance of getting back with Amber? Will he do anything to raise the money they need to run off together, with their fetus, to the US?

14. Started to watch an episode of Packed to the Rafters.

15. Learned a horror movie rule from Packed to the Rafters. Never take three steps backwards.

Apparently doing that is a good way to get your throat cut.

16. Figured that's why the Emu and Kangaroo are on the Australian seal. They know not to step backwards. So they won't get slashed in a horror movie.

17. Felt bad for Dave (Eric Thomson). He just found out he owes $15,000 to the tax office thing.

I think it's so stressful to suddenly get a huge bill. Or to anticipate a huge bill.

We discovered that our pool was leaking a couple of weeks ago. This Friday the leak detection people are coming out to investigate. It's going to cost at least hundreds of dollars. It might get into the thousands. I hope not.

It's stressful, though.

Thinking of stuff like that, and even worse stuff than that...well, maybe I should be sympathetic to those who turn to a life of crime.  We're lucky in that we have people we can turn to if and when we need financial assistance. Other people don't have that luxury. For them, it might be turn to crime or end up homeless.

18. Considered the possibility that the homeless people we encounter could simply be people who chose not to get into drug trafficking.

Maybe they're the ones who said no to armed robbery.

19. Wondered what's going on with Mel (Zoe Ventoura). She feels queasy, which makes Ben (Hugh Sheridan) think she might be pregnant. He's very excited. She seems less so and reluctant to consider the possibility. Then she takes a pregnancy test. When the answer is no, she seems disappointed.

Ben suggests the test must be wrong, and she claims the tests are always accurate. From what I remember learning, it's much more likely to get a false negative on a pregnancy test than a false positive.

Anyway, what's up? Did she change her mind about being okay with motherhood? Is she already worried about fertility problems?

Does she realize she's going to die a few episodes down the line? Maybe people get a sense about these things.

20. Learned what's going on with Mel. She's having mixed feelings.

She was terrified to look at the test results. She didn't feel ready to be pregnant. Then when she saw that it was negative, she felt empty.

I think this is very similar to what happened to me. I did want to be pregnant, very much so. I got excited over every bit of light-headedness and nausea. When I took the test, though, I was scared. I don't remember exactly how I felt. It was probably like Mel, though. I was probably terrified to be pregnant. Then when the test came out negative, I was disappointed.

If my memory serves me correctly, though, I took the test again and it came out positive.

21. Felt kind of skeptical about my story. I'm quite cheap. It's hard or me to imagine using up two pregnancy tests in a row.  I think it would be more like me to wait.

Or maybe not.

Maybe my excitement caused me to act differently from my usual self.

22. Felt some dread about Mel's upcoming death.

However, the bad feeling I have doesn't feel as horrible as the feeling I get when a TV character's death comes to me unexpectedly.

I guess what I'm saying is that the shock feels worse than the dread.

Although I haven't seen Mel's death episode yet. Maybe actually seeing it will be as bad as it would be if it came as a surprise.

I doubt it, though.

23. Imagined trying to apply these ideas to real life.

I thought maybe all this would imply that I'd prefer dealing with an anticipated death than a shocking one.

But no.  It wouldn't be true.

The thing about anticipated deaths in real life is they don't come about by a quick accident.  They involve illnesses—pain and suffering. There are difficult decisions. Do we keep fighting to survive, or do we turn to palliative care?  Do we skip both of the above and resort to suicide or euthanasia?

24. Decided that death and dying are a pain in the ass whether expected or a surprise.

There IS a silver lining, fortunately. That is...if you're the one who dies, you no longer have to worry about death and dying; or going to the dentist; or paying taxes; or cleaning out closets. Well, unless reincarnation really happens. But that's a whole other story. Or many stories, actually.

25. Went to the Triple J 2014 list.

Today I'm going to listen to the 33rd song.  It's "Run" by San Cisco.

26. Started watching the video for "Run"

27. Thought the video was very visually stimulating.

There are parts of it that remind me of scintillating scotomas.

I've had two episodes of that in the last week or so.  I used to have them rarely, but now they're picking up the pace. Or maybe not.  Maybe it won't happen again for many months or years.

28. Started to watch a Neighbours backstage video.

This one stars James Mason who played Chris, and Melissa Bell who plays Lucy.

29. Had trouble deciding between past tense and present tense.

The thing with Melissa Bell is she's left and come back. Because of that, I expect she might come back again.

As far as I know, this is the first time Mason has left. I'm not sure if he plans to come back.

I hope he does!

I hope Chris and Lucy return from the US with their child.  They can at least do a short visit. Or even better, maybe they'll move back to Erinsborough.

30. Heard Melissa Bell and James Mason talk about keeping the Robinson family going with the new baby.

If they don't come back, eventually the child will at some point. Probably.

I started thinking that since the Robinson family continues, why not the Ramsey's?  Why not bring one of them back.

Then I remembered that Daniel (Tim Phillips) is a Ramsey. Right?  Charlene (Kylie Minogue) was a Ramsey.  I think?

31. Consulted Lord Wiki.

He reminded me that Charlene is the daughter of the dearly departed Madge (Anne Charleston).

Madge was the sister of Max Ramsey—one of the principle characters of the early Neighbours episodes.

32. Thought that was very cool.

The Ramsey family lives on in Daniel.

Daniel is major Neighbour's royalty.

33. Wanted to know how Daniel would be related to Danny (David Clencie) and Sean Ramsey.

Cousins?

Let me think about this.

Danny is Max's son.

Never mind.

He's not.

I forgot about that.

Let's go with Sean.

34. Saw that there was no Sean Ramsey.

It was Shane Ramsey (Peter O'Brien)

Oops.

35. Went back to my brain exercising.

Shane is Marge's nephew.

So that would make Shane and Daniel cousins?  Or wait.  I think it's one of those cousin-once-removed things. Shane and Charlene would be the first cousins. I think Shane and Daniel would be first cousins once removed.

36. Wondered if Shane had children.

37. Figured Danny could consider himself a cousin of Daniel even if they don't have a biological connection.

38. Learned from Lord Wiki that Shane Ramsey left Erinsborough to travel around Australia.

I imagine it's quite possible that he fathered a child somewhere.

Maybe that child could return to Erinsborough. Daniel now has a cousin, in town, from his Robinson side, but it would be nice to see a Ramsey cousin as well.

39. Reminded by Lord Wiki about Jill Ramsey.

This was the result of Jim Robinson's wife, Anne, having an affair with Max Ramsey. It had to have happened offscreen because when the show started, Robinson's wife had already died.

I guess Jill came out of the blue at some point.

Jill, though, was the mother of Kate Ramsey (Ashleigh Brewer).

So was Kate Daniel's cousin?

40. Felt that this is way too much for my tiny brain.

41. Figured out that Daniel and Kate share a grandmother—Anne Robinson. So, they'd be first cousins.

Are they double cousins?

Daniel's maternal grandmother was Madge.

Who was Kate's maternal grandmother?

42. Reminded by Lord Wiki that's it's Anne.

So, I guess I'm looking for her paternal grandmother.

43. Saw that her dad was some guy named Patrick Mooney. Mooney's mom would be Kate's paternal grandmother.

44. Thought that Daniel and Kate would have to have a Ramsey connection as well.

They share Grandma Madge.

Right....

I think I got it.

Kate's Grandpa Max is Daniel's Great Uncle!

45. Felt so much better, now that I've figured it out.

46. Learned from Lord Wiki that Charlene had a brother, and he was played by Craig McLachlan.

47. Learned that Daniel has a sister!

Madison Robinson. That's a mouthful.

Maddie's not bad, though.

48. Wondered what's going on with Madison.

Where is she?

Why doesn't Daniel ever talk about her?

49. Wanted Neighbours to bring back as many Ramseys and Robinsons as possible.

And how about people related to other early characters.

Did Des (Paul Keane) and Daphne (Elaine Smith) have a child? Or maybe the child died?

50. Shocked.

I just learned that Daphne and Des had a child named Jamie. He was on the show in the late 80's and then returned in 2003. Guess who played him?

Angus McLaren from Packed to the Rafters!

Now when I watch Packed to the Rafters, I can look at Nathan and say, that's Des and Daphne's little boy!

51. Wondered about Julie Robinson—the sister of Paul (Stefan Dennis), Scott (Jason Donovan), and Lucy.

It turns out she died from a fall.  The poor girl.

52. Shocked. Again.

It turns out Julie wasn't the daughter of Jim Robinson (Alan Dale). She was the daughter of a rapist.

53. Saw that another Packed to the Rafters cast member was on Neighbours. Kristian Schmid who plays Alex on Packed to the Rafters, played Todd Landers on Neighbours.

Lord Wiki says we must not confuse Todd Landers with Todd Flanders from The Simpsons.

54. Learned that Todd babysat James. There was some kind of mistake, and James almost drowned.

55. Learned that Todd stressed out Jim Robinson's mother-in-law so much, she had a stroke.

Yikes!

56. Wondered if any other Packed to the Rafters actors have been on Neighbours.

57. Saw that Ryan Corr (Coby) was on one episode in 2006.

58. Saw that Zoe Cramond who plays Daniel Robinson's cousin Amy was on Packed to the Rafters.

Did I already knows that?

I think I did.

Maybe I wrote about it recently.

59. Got excited about later seasons of Packed to the Rafters. I see, in the cast, that there are two Wonderland actors and a very classic Home and Away actor.

60. Stopped trying to look for Neighbours actors in the Packed to the Rafters cast. It would take me all the night.

Read my novel: The Dead are Online

Dance Academy the Movie

I saw an intriguing article this morning about Dance Academy. Apparently there are plans to make a feature film about Tara and the academy.

It's going to be directed by a guy named Jeffrey Walker. The article says he directed episodes of Modern Family.  The Australian episodes? Or other episodes? Is he Australian?  I'll have to look him up.

Here's his IMDb page.

He's Australian.

He's done a bit of acting, mostly in Aussie Youth fantasy/science fiction stuff—Ocean Girl, Around the Twist, Mirror, Mirror, Halfway Across the Galaxy and Turn Left, etc.

As for directing, he did three episodes of Modern Family.  I saw "Larry's Wife". This is the one where Phil gets close to divorced women via his real estate career. I haven't seen the other two episodes yet.

Neither of them were the episodes that take place in Australia.

BUT Walker has directed stuff filmed in Australia...including Dance Academy.  He directed eight season one episodes.

He also directed episodes of Neighbours and Home Away, and the first episode of The Elephant Princess.

So...Dance Academy the movie.  It's interesting that they're planning to turn it into a feature film and not just a telemovie.  I wonder which cast members will return. Just Tara (Xenia Goodwin)? Or others as well.

Wait. Who knows if they're planning to have Xenia Goodwin. Maybe they're planning to do a whole recast.

I hope not.

Linda Cropper

Hello!

Today I'm going to be learning about the actress Linda Cropper. She played Geraldine Proudman on Offspring.

Geraldine is the mother of Nina, Billie, and Jimmy.  I kind of saw her as being part of the comic relief of the show. Although I feel weird saying that since Offspring is partly a comedy. Isn't comic relief something that's more applicable in a drama? It seems, though, that other characters such as Nina, Billie, and Jimmy have both funny scenes and heartbreaking scenes, Geraldine scenes and storylines are mostly lighthearted. Am I right?

I might not be.

I might be forgetting something.

I'm also thinking it might be less about what happens to Geraldine, on the show, and more about her personality.

Some intense things do happen to Geraldine. For example, it's discovered that one of her daughters (Nina) has a different father than everyone previously believed. I forget if Geraldine already knew this, or if it was a surprise to her as well.

Anyway...but yeah. I think there is something comedic in Geraldine's overall personality.

I can't really explain it, so I think I'll just move on.

I'll start learning about Linda Cropper.

Her IMDb bio doesn't provide any personal information. I'll jump to the filmography.

Usual Disclaimer: I skip over most one time appearances in TV shows I don't watch; and I skip movies if I can't find enough information about them.

The first item on the filmography is an episode of Five Mile Creek that aired in 1984.  It's a one time appearance, but I'm mentioning it because it's the first thing on the filmography. Cropper played someone named Tillie.

The next thing we have on the filmography is A Country Practice. Cropper appeared in two episodes in season 4.  She played Jo Walker.

That was weird. I just went to my favorite Australian Television website, and it tried to get me to download something called iLivid. Stupidly, I almost did but then changed my mind.  I mean it might be something good, but it's probably a bad idea to just jump into it without doing more research first.

Well, now I'm looking at Yahoo Answers, and most people are saying iLivid is a bad thing. I'm glad I didn't download it especially because I wasn't seeking to download it.  The reason I was about to download it, without hesitation, is I had this idea that I wouldn't be able to look at the Australian Television site otherwise. I thought maybe they had changed something, and you needed iLivid to view it.  But then I had good sense to pause and take a closer look. I realized I could still see the Australian Television site.

And now I'm using the site to find out about Jo Walker.

Jo is the daughter of Dixie Walker, and she's involved (romantically, I presume) with Dixie's boss who is married. The boss (Alan) fires Dixie for health reasons. Yikes.

Then Dixie dies and that causes some extra drama.

Jo eventually breaks things off with Alan. That's good. He sounds like a bit of a jerk.

In 1985, Cropper was in a mini-series called Palace of Dreams.

The Australian Screen website has a section about it.  It's about a young man from rural Australia who travels to Sydney to pursue his writing career. He ends up befriending some Jewish people who own a pub. The story takes place during the Great Depression.

Maybe Cropper played one of the Jews.

Well, her character was named Miriam. I think that's a Jewish name. Probably?

There are two clips here on the site. I'll see if either of them feature Cropper.

No...I didn't see her.

In 1986, Cropper was in a miniseries called Cyclone Tracy, about the disaster in Darwin.

The Australian Screen website has a section about this program as well.  I'll watch the clips and see if I see Cropper. If I don't see her, at least I'll see Kate Ritchie. She's listed as being in one of the clips. Oh! And this is when she was very young...BEFORE her Home and Away days.

In the first clip, some men are having cockroach races. That's interesting. I never heard of people doing that.

The second clip is terrifying—kids being carried away in a storm. Kate Ritchie is one of the kids. Though I couldn't see much of her face.

I'm not seeing Cropper. The movie, though, does a good job of showing how huge storms can be so destructive and depressing.

YouTube has another clip from the movie. I'm going to see if Cropper is in that. I'm feeling like a bit of a failure in terms of finding images of Cropper's early career.

I think I see her!  At :15.

Is that her?

I'm pretty sure it is.

Okay. It is. Someone called her by the right character name (Joycie).

In 1987 Linda Cropper was in a movie with John Waters, her Offspring co-star. And I see that IMDb has finally put up the right photo of Waters. They used to illustrate his filmography with John Waters, the American director.

The Cropper and Waters movie is called Going Sane.  It's about a man who leaves his wife and family after finding out he doesn't have long to live.

I guess he didn't love his family very much.

Lord Wiki says that Waters wasn't too proud of the movie.

Cropper did another 1987 movie with Waters. Maybe Waters liked this one better. It's called The Perfectionist.  And with this, we have Cropper in another movie with Home and Away alumni—Adam Willits, this time.

I probably wrote about this movie when I wrote about Willits. The plot seems vaguely familiar to me. John Water's wife decides to quit being a full time housewife and go back to school. She hires a male babysitter to take care of her kids.

Cropper doesn't play the wife. That job went to Jackie Weaver.

Cropper plays Margaret Bridges. A neighbor perhaps? Maybe a classmate of Weavers?

I'm skipping some projects here, because I can't find much information about them.

In 1989, Cropper appeared in a miniseries called Body Surfer. There's a clip on YouTube. I'll see if she's in it.

As far as I know...I didn't see her.

In 1990, Cropper played the title character in The Private War of Lucinda Smith.  This website says it takes place during World War I, and it's about two men having a rivalry over Lucinda.

I feel with this post I keep breaking my rule about not mentioning films in which I can't find much information. I guess the thing is, I start writing about it, because I EXPECT to find more information. Plus, I feel compelled to write about this particular movie since Cropper played the title character.

Here's yet another thing in which I might not find a good amount of information, but I think I, at least, found a clip from YouTube. It's a 1991 TV movie called The Ring of Scorpio.

The clip says it's from BBC. Is it the wrong movie. Or did BBC show the movie?

It's the right movie!

I see Cropper. She appears at :49.

Cropper is in prison with Caroline Goodall and another woman. Goodall and Cropper sing a pretty little song.

Also, in 1991 Cropper was in a movie called Edens lost.

I Googled, and that led me to this site called Daily Motion.  I think it's a video site. Anyway...someone has a Linda Cropper page on it. Maybe Linda Cropper herself?  Or it could be a fan.

There's a clip from Edens Lost.

There's also some clips of Cropper playing Melba. I skipped over that project because it looked like a once time appearance in a TV show. But now I'm thinking this role might have been important to Cropper's career. So I'll watch the clips.

The first video has Cropper doing Melba's opera singing. I wonder if she's really singing. Since she sang in The Ring of Scorpio, I'm thinking maybe she really has singing talent.

I'm leaving Daily Motion, though.  I don't think it's a good website.  Before watching the video, I had to watch an advertisement. Of course, that's fine. A lot of video websites have ads before the desired programming. But then WHILE I was watching, more ads played at the bottom of the screen while I was trying to watch the movie. That's incredibly annoying.

In 1994, Cropper was in a thriller movie with Brooke Shields called The Seventh Floor.  Since it has an American star, I wondered if it was an American movie. But no. It looks like it was Australian.

Here's a trailer for the movie.

Cropper can be seen at :27. She looks quite elegant...but in a Cinderella's stepmother type way.

That trailer gives me no help in understanding what the plot of the movie is.  It's very vague. I feel like someone said, let's make a movie with random thrilling scenes and hope people find it exciting.

Well, here we go. Lord Wiki has a description of the plot. He says it's about a woman who moves into an apartment that's controlled by a high tech computer system. Then a psychotic man terrorizes her. I guess he finds a way to control the system?

In 1995, Cropper was in a miniseries with Cate Blanchett. That's kind of funny since I just mentioned Cinderella's stepmother.

The miniseries was called Bordertown. It sounds somewhat familiar to me. I wrote about Blanchett years ago, so maybe  I came across it then.

Okay...yes! I just glanced at some info on IMDb and it mentions Blanchett playing an Albino. That's jogging my memory a bit.

I'm not finding as much information about this film as I'd expect.

Maybe I'm Googling the wrong thing.

I thought the Australian Screen website would at least have something, but I'm not seeing it.

Wait! I found a trailer. Now I'm happy.

I think that's Cropper at :04.  The narrator kind of sounds Southern American to me...at least at first. Then she starts sounding more Australian.

Actually, now I'm thinking it's Irish or Scottish.

I'm starting to think Cropper looks like a cross between Meryl Streep and Susan Sarandon.

In 1997, Cropper was in a drama about rape called Blackrock. It sounded familiar to me; then I saw Justine Clark in the credits. I think I learned about the movie when I did a post about her.

Lord Wiki says the movie is also known as being Heath Ledger's first film appearance.

The rape victim in the movie is played by Bojana Novakovic from Satisfaction.

Hopper plays the mother of Jared, a guy who witnesses Novakovic being raped. The movie is mostly about Jared's struggling with what he saw and the decision of whether or not to turn in his friends to the police.

The storyline goes along very well with that Dumbeldore quote. It takes a great deal of courage to stand up to your enemies, but a great deal more to stand up to your friends.

So true!

Someone has uploaded the whole movie. I'm going to try to find Cropper in one of the parts.

I guess I'll start with the beginning.

Cropper can be seen at 3:31. She's getting a breast biopsy.

I think that's Cropper again at 6:59.

In 1999, Cropper was in a movie with Mimi Rogers called Little White Lies. It's another example of an Australian movie using an American as its star. I guess it's fair since many American movies star Australians. The difference, though, is that Australians usually play Americans in American films. In Australian films, Americans usually play Americans.

I can think of one exception, though. In Mental, the American played an Australian. I can't remember who the American was, though.

Let me go check....

Liev Schreiber.  That's who it was.

Back to Little White Lies....

Here's some clips from the movie.  I see a lot of Mimi Rogers, but I don't see Cropper, unfortunately.

Also, in 1999, Cropper was in a movie about Percy Grainger and his mother. Cropper didn't play the mother. That job went to another American—Barbara Hershey.

Oh! Awesome! Hershey is starring in a new TV series about Damien the anti-christ boy. I wonder if that will be any good. I'm picturing the show maybe being like Bates Motel.  That's on my mind, at the moment, because Percy Grainger and his mother had a close relationship like Norman Bates and his mother.  Was it close as in incest close? From what I remember learning, no one knows for sure. Lord Wiki reminds me, though, that the accusations drove Grainger's mother to suicide.  I think that's very sad.

Next we have a movie called Envy, which has the alternate title The New Girlfriend.

Here's the trailer.

Cropper appears at the beginning. She plays the mother of the main character—a young man who's abused by some people.

In 1999 and 2000, Cropper appeared in seven episodes of Water Rats.  She played Charlie Driscoll.

Here's the last of the episodes she was on.

I really hope that some of these links continue to work in the future. Sometimes, via Statcounter, I look at the links people click on from my blog. Often, the videos are gone....and then I feel bad.

In the Water Rats video, Cropper appears at 1:13. I think she's pretty important to the episode, because the title of it is "Bye Bye Charlie".

Charlie is planning to be on trial for murder.

One of the police guys interviewing her is Andrew from Home and Away!

I feel haunted by Home and Away today.

Next on the filmography is Farscape. I just finished watching season One. I'm guessing Cropper appeared in season two.

Well, yes. She appeared in one episode of season two as Fento. Then she appeared in season three as Xhalax Sun. I guess she's a relative of Aeryn Sun?  I don't want to read much about it, because of spoilers.

I've encountered unwanted spoilers twice in the past 24 hours thanks to Google News. They have this recommended for you thing, and I looked at it. Yesterday I got a spoiler about The Walking Dead and today I got a shocking spoiler about Neighbours.  I'm not going to be clicking on that option again.

This website has a page about Xhalax Sun...if anyone wants to read it. It also includes a photo of Cropper.

You know, I'm being a hypocrite complaining about spoilers, because my blog has probably provided unwanted spoilers to people.  It's hard to avoid, because it's hard to talk about media without giving away certain things.  These days with Netflix, Hulu, and other binge-watching tools, we're all in different places. We're often not caught up with a show, and it's hard not to run into spoilers.  And it's hard to talk about a show online without giving certain things away.

Sometimes, though, spoilers aren't bad. If we know what's going to happen, it provides a different perspective.

Recently, Tim and I accidentally skipped an episode of The Walking Dead. Then we realized our mistake and went back to watch the episode.  The suspense of the episode was provided by the question of whether a certain character was a threat or not. Because we saw the future, we already sort of knew the answer.  But knowing the answer didn't ruin the episode for me. In a way, I think it might have made it more interesting.

In 2001, Cropper played true-life murder victim, Megan Kalajzich, in the TV movie My Husband My Killer.  As the title suggests, it's believed that Mr. Kalajzich was the murderer.

In 2002, Cropper appeared in season 5 of All Saints.

The Australian television website says Cropper played Anita Murphy who is the wife of Don Murphy. There's some kind of shame in their marriage, and that provides the title of the episode..."Shame".

Who is Don Murphy? Is he one of the doctors? A nurse? A friend of one of the doctors or nurses. From the description, it seems like he's a known character.  But then Lord Wiki describes season 5 and who's in it.  I don't see any mention of Murphy.

I'm confused.

I'm going to move on.

Cropper was in a 2002 drama called Teesh and Trude. Lord Wiki says it's about two women living together, and not having a happy life. Cropper plays Trude. She's a woman who misses her kids, because they're living with their father.

Lord Wiki says a critic described the movie as being very depressing.

I'm not a big fan of depressing movies.

Here's a review from Variety.

The movie is very low budget.

The women spend all day watching soap operas and smoking. That kind of sounds like me, except I don't smoke.  I do, though, spend a lot of my day watching soap operas. Yesterday, I did some major Neighbours binge-watching.

The movie talks place on one day in which a lot of bad things happen. This includes one women having her period and the toilet not flushing.

I'm glad they mention stuff like that. They may sound like trivial things, but they can really lower the quality of a day...especially the toilet thing. Periods are pretty awful, but most women are probably used to it.

I think I'm going to add Variety to another website I dislike. It's very slow and therefore hard to scroll and read. Plus, out of nowhere, a video ad came on. And then I couldn't scroll fast enough to find the ad to shut it up.

Anyway, the period and toilet aren't the only problems. The women are also dealing with problems with the men in their life and their children.

I'm thinking, though, that you could go either way with problems like that—in terms of the tone of a piece. I can picture a comedy about two women who watch soap operas all day and are menstruating at a time that their toilet isn't working.

Then you can go middle of the road. The plot description reminds me of storylines I see on Coronation Street, which isn't a comedy. But it's also not a a depressing drama.

We could also take storylines from something like Modern Family and turn it into a depressing melodrama. Like Teesh and Trude, the comedy has storylines about parents struggling to deal with their relationships to their children.

I guess it all kind of fits with what I said in the beginning of this post. Drama or comedy isn't always determined by what happens in a story, but by how it's portrayed—the general tone.

In 2002, Cropper also appeared in seven episodes of a TV series with Don Hany, another one of her Offspring co-stars.  This was White Collar Blue, a police show.

AND that year, Cropper was in a comedy called The Nugget, starring Eric Bana.  Cropper played a roadside waitress. The character wasn't named, but since Cropper, already had an established career by this point, I'm guessing it was still an important character. I'm picturing a small, but memorable role.

Here's a trailer for the film.

I didn't really expect to see Cropper, but she's there at 1:34.  That was a pleasant surprise.

In 2005, Cropper was in the movie Little Fish.  This is the movie with the cute little kids singing "Flame Trees".

Cropper played Denise.

Who is Denise?

I don't know. Lord Wiki doesn't talk about her in his description of the movie; nor does he list Cropper as one of the main stars.

Still...just in case. I'm going to watch a trailer of the movie.

The trailer includes the singing bit at the end.  It provides a different view of Little Fish than I'm used to.  I thought the movie was more of a character drama, but this trailer makes it look more like an action thriller.

Either way...I didn't see Cropper.

Here's another trailer. I'm not watching it because I expect to see Cropper, but I want to see if this one better matches my idea of the movie.

Yeah. That trailer does a much better job of fulfilling my expectations.

In 2006, Cropper was in a miniseries about East Timor called Answered by Fire.  Here's a trailer. Cropper wasn't one of the main stars, so she might not be in this trailer either.

I think that MIGHT be Cropper at :28.

Also, in 2006, Cropper appeared in two episodes of season six of McLeod's Daughters. She didn't play a McLeod. She played Trudi Webb.

The Australian television website says Trudi is the mother of Fiona. Who is Fiona? I don't know, but she's getting married...maybe to Alex. I thought Alex ended up with Stevie. But of course, there always has to be characters who get in the way of the two love birds.  Like Emily with Ross and Rachel, or Rex with Alex and Evan.

Here's the episode.

I actually watched part of this episode before. It's the one where Charlotte goes missing.

I haven't found Cropper yet.

Oops! I was totally watching the wrong episode just now.  I was watching an episode from season 5 instead of 6.

Let me try to find the right episode.....

Well, I don't see it on YouTube. I'll provide the link to Hulu. That's a more ethical way of watching the show, actually. I'm not going going to watch it now, though, because it's hard to jump/skim through Hulu.  But in case, anyone wanting to watch the episode in it's entirety, here it is.

I may watch it someday. I'm still using random.org to pick which Hulu show I'm going to watch. My new show is Slide. It's about teenagers in Brisbane. I haven't started watching it yet.  If I have time, I may watch an episode later.

I really love Hulu, by the way.  It's my favorite company right now.  I wish I could use it more in my posts instead of linking to illegally uploaded programming on YouTube. It's just hard to skim because of the commercial breaks.

In 2008, Cropper was in the American movie Fool's Gold. This is the movie starring Matthew McConaughey and and Kate Hudson. I kind of remember hearing about it.

Cropper played Hudson's attorney. What did she do? Why did she need an attorney?  I don't know, and I can't say I care. I'm getting tired, evidenced by the fact that I just twice misspelled Cropper's name...first as Copper and then as Crooper.

The movie was filmed in Queensland, so Cropper didn't have to leave the country to be in the movie.

Oh wait. Some scenes were filmed in the Bahamas. I'm betting, though, that those scenes didn't involve Cropper.

Here's a trailer for the movie.

I think that's Cropper at :15, and maybe that's her at :34. She's speaking American.

It doesn't look like my type of movie, but Queensland looks quite beautiful.

Lord Wiki says the film was originally going to be filmed in the Caribbean. but then they decided on Australia because they worried about hurricane season.  I guess Australia wasn't having their cyclone season.

Holy shit! Two crew members were stung by Irukandji jellyfish!  This scared the actors, so then some of the water scenes were filmed in the Bahamas. I don't blame them. I'd be scared too.

In 2008, Cropper was also in a TV movie called Dream Life.  Here's a trailer for it.

I guess it's a fairy tale type thing? I'm not sure.

2010 is when Cropper started appearing on Offspring. According to IMDb, she was on every episode. I can't say I remember her missing from an episode, so I'll have to agree with IMDb.

While on Offspring, Cropper appeared in some other things.

She appeared in season three of Satisfaction.  I'm not going to read much about the episodes, because I'd like to try to avoid spoilers. But here's a link to the episode on Hulu.

Cropper was in four episodes of The Pacific.  This is that war miniseries. I think it's American, but filmed in Australia.

Cropper plays the mother of someone named Sledge.

Oh! Sledge is the character played by the Jurassic Park kid.

I'm going to move on. I can't learn much about Momma Sledge without looking at Lord Wiki's cousin's site; but I hate that site, because it's so slow.  I don't remember it being so bad in the past. Maybe they added more advertising? Or maybe it's the same, but I had more patience in the past.

Actually, right now it's not so bad. It probably depends on what advertisement is currently showing.

Here's something a little fun. One of Cropper's costumes from The Pacific is on sale.

Cropper was in another project with Don Hany. It's a short film called Suburbia. I'm bookmarking it to watch later.

She was in another short movie in 2013 called Welcome to Iron Knob. I can't find the whole film online, but here's a trailer.

Cropper licks a cookie/biscuit at :17.  It's not a Tim Tam.

Cropper was in one episode of Redfern Now. I mention that even, though, I don't watch that show, and I usually skip one time appearances in TV shows I don't watch. But the thing is...I WANT to watch it. I hope Hulu will have it soon.

Well, I think I'm going to stop with the filmography now.

I need to take a break and get a snack. Then I'll come back and do some other Linda Cropper-related stuff.

I'm back.

There's an interview with Cropper on a blog called Save Our Soles. They say they're about celebrating the feet soles of actresses.

What??!!!

I'm going to look at my feet sole.

There's a yellow tinge.  Is that dirt, or do I have some kind of liver problem?

Or maybe it's the lighting.

I get that the title of the blog is a joke, but are the interviews jokes as well? I mean I'm guessing they are humorous interviews, but are they real?  Did they really talk to Linda Cropper? Or did they imagine they were talking to her? And if they imagined they were talking to her, did they talk to her face or her feet?

I guess I'll imagine the interview is real.  Though I apologize in advance if I'm passing on false information.

I think it's real.

Probably.

Cropper says she was born in 1949 in Sydney.  She's the same age as my parents.

Cropper is asked about choosing roles. She says,  I don't usually mind what role I play. As long as it's not too...unusual.

Too unusual? Would that include someone with yellowish feet soles that has pet crickets chirping away as she writes an overly long blog post?

Cropper says she had a lot of fun filming Cyclone Tracy. I bet the people in the real cyclone had a little less fun.  It seems kind of cold to admit to having fun with that. But I understand. You can have fun doing the whole acting and film thing while still having the expected sad thoughts about the real disaster.

Cropper says she prefers doing TV stuff over movie stuff. And she's never been very interested in doing the Hollywood thing.

Cropper has visited Egypt. The blogger asked her this, because the blogger herself is from Egypt.

Cropper doesn't smoke, but she used to. I wonder when she quit.

Now we're getting to the feet stuff. The blogger compliments Cropper's feet and Cropper says they're usually cleaned before shooting.

Are there shots of Cropper's feet in Offspring?

How often do we get close-ups of feet in TV and movies?

Cropper prefers to not have her nails painted, but will do so if requested.

I like toenail polish but am usually too lazy to polish them. I'll probably do something in a few weeks though, so I can wear flip flops (thongs) without shame.

My feet are really ugly.

Cropper's favorite color is red. Her favorite type of footwear is high heels.

I'm one of those losers who can't manage to walk in high heels.

Cropper is asked how she feels about foot fetishes. She says, I think it's a little weird. I don't usually take a liking to peoples feet.

Excuse me! Is that her definition of weird—something that doesn't apply to her. So if she doesn't like feet, it means it's weird to like feet?

I'm getting the idea that Cropper isn't a fan of the unusual. She doesn't want to play characters that are too unusual, and foot fetishes are weird.

Though she does say a LITTLE weird, and maybe she's one of those people (like me) who doesn't see weird as an insult.

But in the context, it kind of sounds like an insult.

I have a feeling Cropper wouldn't like me. I'd be too weird and unusual for her. Though I don't have a foot fetish.

And I still don't know if that was a real interview.

Either way, though...I had fun reading it.

Here's another interview with Cropper. This one is on a traveling website.

She had a really good time in NYC—stayed near Central Park. She saw Aretha Franklin on stage, and that made her cry because she's a huge fan of Aretha Franklin.

She once stayed at a very fancy hotel in London.  It included call buttons for the maid and butler; though Cropper never used them.

Cropper is asked what she needs for a perfect holiday. She says, Good weather is always a big plus and not getting sick.

I agree with her on that. I get really nervous about us getting sick on vacation. We've had pretty good fortune so far (KNOCK ON WOOD) but I always worry our good luck is about to run out.

On our last trip to Disney World, Jack started having cold symptoms. I worried it was going to be one of those things that wiped us out for most of the vacation, but fortunately he was quickly okay.

I'm trying to remember if we ever got sick in Australia.

I remember one night where I felt like I was coming down with someone. But the next day  I was totally fine.  That actually happens to me a lot. I think that's called I'm-less-healthy-at-night. I'm starting to believe I'm a reverse vampire.

See...but now that I've mentioned this good health, and even though I knocked on wood...I feel we're going to be cursed on our next trip with some kind of horrible illness.  Our toilets will clog with vomit, which will be double awful for me because I have a phobia of vomit.

Cropper says she has a St. Christopher medal that is special to her, and this is the one thing she always takes on trips.  I'd be confused if someone asked me that question—what do I always take on trips. Because there's a lot of things. Like shoes, underpants, my wallet, my laptop.....

Cropper is asked to give travel advice. I think she kind of contradicts herself. She says,
Don't take too much stuff with you; you can always get it there. I had to buy a suitcase once as mine fell apart. No biggie, suitcases are easy to find, right? Not in Lima, Peru, it would appear.

So, you can always find what you left behind...but then she gives an example of it being difficult. Well, at least it wasn't impossible. She goes on to say that she did eventually find a suitcase.  And no, she didn't not bring a suitcase. Hers broke.

I think it depends on where you go.

If we go to NYC, it really doesn't matter if you forget something. You can find and buy anything there, probably at a fairly decent price.  But when we go to Disney World?  If you don't have a car and you're stuck on property, you MIGHT find what you need, but it's going to be way overpriced.

And I think the same thing would happen on a cruise.

Also...even if you can find what you need, do you want to spend your holiday searching for it?

I think it depends on what you're wanting to do on your holiday. If you love shopping, then forgetting to pack pajamas, is probably a good thing. If you didn't want to shop on your holiday, then it's a pain in the ass.

Cropper is asked about her worse holiday. She says it was in Tuscany, and it was her birthday. She and her friend had a fight. But then they worked things out, and they're still friends.

Yeah. That goes along with what I believe. With holidays, it doesn't really matter where you are. It's about who you're with and whether or not you're getting along well.

Though we haven't had bad luck (knock on wood again) with illness, we've had some pretty awful interpersonal dramas on our trips.  There were fights in Australia that left me feeling depressed and worthless.

When I was a teen, my family would have HUGE fights when traveling.

Cropper is like me in that she doesn't like crowds when traveling, and she tries not to travel during peak times.

Jack and I play Would You Rather a lot.  This week he asked me if I'd rather go to Disney World when it's very hot but not so crowded; or when the weather is very pleasant, but it's super crowded.  I had a hard time deciding, and now I don't remember what I concluded.  But I did point out that in reality, it's the super crowded time that's also the very hot and humid time.

Now that I think more about it, though, that's not exactly true. Christmas is the most crowded time, and the weather is probably perfect then.  So maybe if I had to choose between Disney World at Christmas or Disney World in May.....

I don't know.

I might go for Christmas, but not attempt to go on any rides....just go for the suffocating atmosphere. Though I don't like crowds, I'd probably like the holiday spirit of the whole thing.

OR...If I went to Disney World in May, maybe we'd just spend most of the time at the water parks, and/or go on water rides. Plus, there's a lot of air conditioning there.

The Sydney Morning Herald has an article about Cropper.  It's about a play she was in called Ghosts. It's an Ibsen thing.

She's also played Lady Macbeth on stage.

Cropper waxes poetic about Ibsen, saying he created meaty roles for women. She says this as a comparison to Shakespeare who wrote meaty roles for men.

But wasn't Lady Macbeth a pretty meaty role?

Or maybe not?

I don't know.

Cropper says when she first graduated from NIDA, she planned to be in only classical roles on stage. But then she realized there wasn't going to be enough work if she limited herself to that.

She reminds me of a preschool director I worked for in Fort Worth. She only liked classical...at least when it came to music.

I can't understand when people limit themselves like that.  Yes, classical music is beautiful, but there's a lot of beauty in other stuff as well.

I wonder if Cropper has grown to respect her non-classical work. Or when she was working on Offspring, was she secretly thinking, This is crap. I wish I was doing Ibsen or Shakespeare.

I think I'm going to go ahead and watch Suburbia, and then quit this post. I'm tired.

I'm watching....

Cropper is talking to some other woman...or listening mostly to the other woman. The other women is talking about Christmas food. Don Hany is watching them talk.

It seems Hany is the romantic partner of the other woman. If I'm understanding things right, he also knows Cropper. She and the girl are working together, and Hany asked Cropper how it went. So...maybe the other girl is Hany's lover and he used his connections to get her a a job with Cropper.

Now the movie has stopped playing for some reason.

Will I be left in suspense? Or will it start working again?

It's working now.

Hany hears a noise.

He's going to check it out.

I don't think it's a horror movie, so there probably won't be a zombie around the corner.

I think it's drama, though, so Hany will probably find something sad.

Hany found a car with people rushing away. Now there's a baby crying.

Yikes. Now there are gunshots.

Hany talked about hearing something before. Maybe that's what he heard, and I missed it?

Haney is running around the neighborhood investigating and helping. I'm wondering if that's more heroic or foolish.

It seems to me it might be better to hide and call the police.

Hany did call the police, but out in the open where he could have gotten shot. I'd probably want to get away from the shooting sounds and then call.

A woman stopped him and asked for help because her husband was shot. With that, I think it was brave and nice that he helped. But before that, he was following the sounds of the gunshots—trying to figure out what was happening. Is that a wise thing to do if you're not the police and you're not armed?

Now Hany has found Cropper. She was one of the people shot.

Though this movie takes place in Australia....I imagine it's what some Australians imagine every day life is like in America.

I'm thinking about Don Hany's character here. If I was on the street being shot at or if someone I loved was shot, I'd be very grateful to him. He's the kind of guy who just jumps into danger. It's very brave.  But I'd be unhappy if he was my husband.  I'd be mad that he risked his life like that. It would almost feel like he had a death wish.

No. I wouldn't be impressed with Tim if he ran down the street towards the gunfire he was hearing. And I'd feel like an awful mother if l risked my own life to follow the sound.  However, if the police catch the shooters, and then people are needed to help out, that's a different story. Or let's say someone is already in a building where shooting is happening. If they stayed to help instead of fleeing, that's a pretty nice thing.

I just feel Hany could have walked in the opposite direction WHILE calling the police.

The credits say the movie is based on a true story—something that happened in Burleigh Heads.

Besides portrayed a true event, what was the point of the movie? To depress and scare people?

Were we supposed to question Hany's actions? Or is that just me—because I'm cowardly and not so sacrificing.   Maybe most people watch that film and immediately conclude that Hany (or is character, really) is heroic.

Here's an article, from 1991, about a shooting in Burleigh Heads. The guy shot people from his balcony and then walked down the street and fired at people in their cars.

Odd...the article was from an American newspaper. I can't find any Australian articles about it.

This website has some writings about Suburbia. Maybe it will give me some insight.

The movie is based on the director's own experience. On his own street, there was a shooting and he saw someone die in front of him.

Oh...you know what. I think the street was Burleigh Heads. So when the credits say the movie is based on a true story, it's a story that the director actually lived through. Wow.

I wonder if filming the movie was therapeutic for the director.  I imagine it was painful, but was it painful in a good way?  Well, not good...but helpful?

I like what one of the commenters says on the website. I think the news media could learn a lesson from this film---if mass people saw the horror of gun violence from this lens---instead of all the attention and sensationalism pointed at those who killed--perhaps we would be making decisions that would really save future lives. I'm sorry for the experience that led to this film and am glad you found a way so thoughtfully represent it.

I'm thinking about the recent plane disaster. Much more attention was given to the co-pilot who killed everyone than the victims themselves. I'm not sure it would make me feel better to concentrate on the victims and the crash. But what about for future potential killers?  For those who do it for attention—to achieve fame and/or notoriety, the media might be doing a huge disservice to all of us. They might be encouraging more people to become mass-killers.

I wonder about this film, though. Does it have benefits? Will it make people think twice about going on a shooting spree, because they saw how horrific it appears on film. Or would they be too heartless and just think, oh that's cool.  Look at all that blood.

But not all shooters are cruel and heartless. Some are very lonely and desperate. So maybe seeing all the blood and death WOULD be a deterrent to them.

Maybe the movie doesn't need to have a point or a purpose. Maybe it's just about a director wanting to use art to deal with and share his experience.

Back to the whole running into danger thing.....

I'm thinking it would also depend on whether you knew and loved the people in danger.

Maybe the neighborhood was filled with Hany's good friends. Then again....the woman who asked Hany to help her husband referred to her husband as my husband. If they were friends, she'd say something like. Please! You have to help George! He's been shot.

If I was taking a walk in our lake house neighborhood and heard shooting coming from the lake house;, I think it's very likely that I'd run into the lake house...even if that meant getting myself killed. My family is in there.  I'd want to help them and be with them. But if I was taking a walk in the neighborhood and heard shooting at a house that was NOT our lake house, I'd be running away from there to the safety of our lake house. Then I'd call the police.  Of course, this is all what I'd imagine I'd do.  We can never know what we'd do, when faced with trauma, unless we're actually in the situation.
